coyotes, oversharing, coffee

This is interesting/cute. I must admit, I had weird mixed feelings when I first started reading because a coyote ate my first pet duck when I was about six—after the death of my mom's parents it was the most traumatic thing I experienced as a wee one—but I've come around to liking this blog. Some day I'll write more about the coyote eating Cotton (that was the duck's name). Lately I've been thinking that I should write out the stories of the most traumatic things I've experienced, not really because they'd be fun for others to read but just as an exercise in maybe letting go, and since I think I have elements of PTSD which is a term I usually toss around as a joke but that's probably because humor is a coping mechanism–and also my favorite thing ever in the world—so it's hard to really say what I mean. What do I mean? Exactly. So instead I will say that my new job is nice in that on late nights they buy us dinner and let us come in later the following morning. It's kind of scary how much it's the little things that can make a difference. Also, the mocha nut fudge flavored coffee pods which I'm addicted to.

Beware of the mocha nut fudge flavored coffee pods. A couple days of those things and suddenly you turn into "Chico the upstairs teenager" and start throwing wild parties. Then you start wondering were your going to score your next mocha nut fudge flavored coffee pods. Next thing you know you're in a circle of people introducing yourself and talking about how wonderful decaf coffee has been to you. Um, sorry I think it's past my bedtime again.

In honor of the coyote blog, I just posted a second cute pic in the Activity Pit of one of the chipmunks that visited me last summer. There were 5 or 6 of them in all - hard to tell because they all look alike. I once saw 5 of them at one time though.

I eventually got a few to eat out of my hand. Got bit on the fingers a couple of times, but no serious damage done.

Hopefully they'll be back again this year. There are a few cats in the neighborhood, and I think they may have claimed one or two of the little guys...

I agree with you Alison. Life is complex and difficult enough as it is. I have a personal policy to find happiness in the little things. I choose to keep a positive frame of mind as best I can. I've learned to accept my silliness/weirdness. In my circle of friends (away from the net) we're always finding ways to keep each other uplifted. We don't ignore our troubles or problems, we just find ways to cope with them. I think that everyone has the capacity to control their own environment. I would rather sit in a room by myself and watch paint dry before I succumb to the trappings of life. Yes, easier said than done, but I'm successful at it for the most part. So embrace the beauty of being a unique individual. It's very much appreciated. By the way, I'm not a coffee drinker, but that mocha thingie sounds delicious.

Here's a few examples on how my friends and I act silly to break the monotony of life. A couple of days ago I tx'd my friend and told her our fav. family guy episode was on. She immediately called and we watched the show together at the same time while talking. The silly thing we laughed about was the fact that my t.v was about 5 seconds ahead of hers. So I would laugh first and then a few seconds later she would laugh. I could also hear the volume of her tv so I got to hear the punchlines twice. To us it was hysterical. If anyone else had been in on it, they would have said, "You guys are crazy." So we just embraced the silliniess for what it was. Yes, you had to be there.

Another example: Last night I called my best friend and he loves Jeopardy. Why I don't know. But I called right when the time final Jeopardy was on. He said let's see if we can get this right. The question/answer was something along the lines of "Had his brain frozen in 1955." or something similar to that. Memory fails me. But immediately I said. "Who is Mike Jones?" Well of course he thought this was the funniest thing. You have to be aware of the hip-hop, r&b community to get this. If you are, then you know exactly why that is funny. He actually got the answer right, which was Albert Einstein. He got satisfaction from being right, and I got satisfaction for having a witty reply. It was a win/win. So this is just a small example of apprecitating the little things in life. Mainly sharing the same sense of humor with your close knit friends. A great joy.

P.S. Mike Jones is a rapper from Houston,Tx. In the majority of his lyrics he states repeatedly "Who is Mike Jones?" One of his earlier albums might have even been titled "Who is Mike Jones?" I'm not quite sure.

I've only drank coffee a couple of times and I hated it. I actually will go to Starbucks and get a hot chocolate (yummy by the way) so I can look like I'm drinking coffee when the need to "fit in" with the cool crowd arises! Sounds funny but it's true. I'll just sit there an bitch along with the rest of them at the high cost of the coffee. I do like Mocha Almond Fudge ice cream which is probably the same..No? An employer could entice me with a few gallons of ice cream.

I liked your Three Stooges pic Joe....Moe is a handsome devil!

Ted - you gotta love Moe!

FYI - Starbucks is testing a $2.50 premium cup of coffee. It's made in a machine that brews each cup individually (I believe it's currently being offered in Boston at $2.25.)

The "coffee wars" are really heating up. McDonalds has been challenging Starbucks for a while, and now Dunkin' Donuts (based in Mass.) is beginning to take them on in the west, starting in Las Vegas. Dunkin' plans to open 62 stores there in the next few years and then expand further.

Starbucks isn't doing well - their stock dropped 42% last year and they dumped their CEO last month.

I've been drinking coffee since I was about 15. I once gave it up for a few months, but went back to it. I only have 2 (maybe 3) cups a day though.

They used to say too much coffee was bad, but now they say it's full of antioxidants.

Okay first I hadn't read about the coyote yet when I said wolverine in my first post before. Apologies.

Second, for me humor is a huge coping mechanism. I learned to use it at a very young age. In my family if you didn't, you were doomed. Well you were pretty much doomed anyway, but it helped to cope with the doom.
